We anticipated getting here just afternoon, and vising a FD. It was a Sunday, and a long holiday weekend, in which we didn’t have anything publicly confirmed to do with the banner here. We thought w would spend a few hours at a local FD, and be on our way. However, like I had mentioned earlier, something more always seemed to happen when we least expected it.
We just so happened to find the busiest FD in all of Detroit, and in the most dangerous area. And that was no problem for us, we were in great company with this fire house. We were greeted with a lot of enthusiasm, and hospitality. They immediately began to help us set out all the banner sections in the driveway area. The next thing they did, via the radio, was to let all the other area FD’s to come by here when they had a chance.
We knew after the first hour of trucks showing up, we were going to be spending the night here, and they knew it before we did. Trucks continued to come by all through the night. We had a fun time meeting, and talking with so many firefighters.
