Boston FD, 119 Dorchester St.

We were looking forward to our visit here. This was another big city, with a lot of FD history, and knew that there part in September 11th was also important. At this time we had not confirmed a public presentation with the banner at any particular place. We knew any FD in this town would be a big one, and full with activity. We located a FD just off the highway exit, and introduced ourselves. They were very interested in signing the banner, and speaking with us about 9/11. They then called Headquarters to tell them about us, and to welcome us over there.

This was a very big and busy station. Once again it was near dinner time, and we were invited to join them. We brought in a few sections of the banner for them to sign. Their involvement in NYC was as we had expected it was. They had a very big part in 9/11, and very personal. Chief Dewan had lost his younger brother, he was on the FDNY.

We stayed the night with a good friend of ours that lived near downtown. He was very hospitable, and knew that we were too exhausted emotionally, and physically to stay up any longer than needed. We had plenty of time in the morning to share the banner with him and his friends. We also had a little time to explore some of the history here, before leaving for Providence RI.
